There are many at times where people choose to visit the pharmacy when they feel like their body is unwell. It is very safe if you go to a renowned drugstore where a licensed pharmacist operates. Sometimes, many pharmaceutical shops do operate under unqualified people. These people do not know about the full information of the drug especially the adverse effects, the contraindications and so on. Many people end up worsening their conditions or killing themselves at extreme cases when they are given the wrong dosage or not being educated on the administration of the drug. This is the reason why patients should seek advice from qualified practitioners and pharmacists before buying over-the-counter drugs.

Eye Care practitioners especially Optometrists know about drugs (eye drops), when to give and when not to give a particular eye drop. Some of the drug sellers at the pharmaceutical shops do not know that and as such they are causing more harm to the health of people. There are some kinetics and dynamics of drugs eye practitioners consider before prescribing drugs to their patients.

Have You Wondered Why An Optometrist Asks You About Your Medical History- Whether You have Hypertension, Diabetes, Asthma, Ulcer and Other Conditions? Maybe No or you probably do not take notice.

Some drugs like diclofenac should not be given to a person with ulcer because it can aggravate the condition. Beta blockers like timolol, propanolol and other ones which are used for managing pressure can worsen your asthmatic condition. Eye drops like brimonidine acetate can worsen your hypertension if it enters systemic circulation. Acetazolamide is a potent drug for regulating your Eye pressure but can be dangerous if you have hypokalemia or hyponatremia. All drugs are poisons but it depends on how you use it. Drugs can be a good master and a bad fellow as well.

Sometimes, not seeking advice from your doctor can make you get exposed to the side effects of the drug. Though the drug will be managing your glaucoma, diabetes and hypertension, treating your eye pains or swelling, you are likely to get one condition after the other. This is because you failed to visit your Optometrist or other eye care practitioners for comprehensive advice. You are convinced now, right?

Visit your doctor today before taking any drug to avoid adverse effects of the drug tomorrow..............
